All measurements should be in feet and inches. Step 1, measure across the existing door or desired space for the width, then up and down for the height. The rough opening of your space should be the same size as the door. Step 2, measure the sideroom, which is the space beside your door. Measure the width of the left side, and then the width of the right side. Step 3, measure the space above the door, which is called the headroom. Measure the height of the distance between the top of the door opening and the ceiling. Step 4, measure the ceiling, which is called the backroom. You’ll need to measure the distance of the garage door opening toward the back wall of your garage. You should have 6 total measurements in all once you’ve finished measuring the space. Keep in mind that having an automatic garage door opener installed might call for additional backroom or ceiling space.
To install a single new garage door it should cost between $500 and $800. They demonstrate that the average homeowner can usually tackle such a project in a nine hour time span and a professional will be able to complete it in roughly five hours. Should it be a DIY project? Not really, most housing experts point out that it is a two-person job, requires advanced carpentry skills, and even knowledge of household electronic systems.

My garage door would stop half way up and my son-in-law advised me to have a professional come take a look at it. My daughter asked her neighbor who she called last year because her neighbor had such good things to say about the technician and the company. She got the number and set up the appointment with a very nice young lady. The technician, Jose Rosario, arrived right on time and took the time to listen to my daughter explain everything to him about the door. He then took the time to look over the door, get it operational and write out a very informative break-down of my options. He broke it down to just getting the door operational to replacing the door parts (springs, rollers, etc.) all the way to replacing the door parts and the opener. He had all of the prices broken down and did not try to lead me in any direction I did not feel pressured at all to make a decision. I decided to have all of it replaced due to the fact that, at this very moment, my car was in the body shop being repaired and painted because the garage door had come down on it as I was backing out a week prior. Another reason for my decision was the fact that Jose told me that everything is covered - parts and labor - by Precision Door. This is a rarity these days! Jose installed the new opener and all of the door parts and explained everything to me very clearly. I am extremely pleased with my new door opener and will highly recommend Precision Door to everyone!
LED & Florescent lights: I hear you asking “why is this important?”. Both can emit radio and electromagnetic interference that can mask the signal between the smart hub and your opener. If you experience unreliable operation - out they go. The last thing I did was remove an LED lamp from a motion sensor fixture nearby and replaced it with a standard incandescent. Since the light is only on for a few minutes I’m not worried about the power usage if it means the garage door will close when commanded. Click Here for Garage Door Repairs
The Smart Hub: The smart hub includes a Bluetooth receiver for the door sensor, a 2.4 ghz radio to connect to your wireless home network for the system to communicate with Chamberlain’s servers on the internet, and a radio frequency (RF) transmitter to send HomeLink rolling codes to your garage door opener (on a channel in the 300-400mhz range depending on your garage door opener) - just like your remote clicker.
The low rating on the CS is due to the fact that inwas out of town and my wife called because the garage door wouldn't open. We had repairs to the only other exit, and the CS said because it could be opened manually, it was no emergency. She was stuck in the house for over Sixteen hours. No emergency crew came out. Steve, a tech who came out the first time, fixed the door. It is not his fault CS took their sweet time to help a 45 year customer. I commend Steve. I do NOT have anything good to say about CS.

It was one of the first garage door companies that came up on a Google search for the Wentzville area. The service and professionalism from the time I called (James) and throughout the service period (John) everyone was very professional and courteous. John was very thorough in explaining the process and answering all my questions and was a pleasure to deal with.
Spring Issues - Unless it is due to an obstruction of some type, uneven movement of your garage door is likely caused by a problem with the spring mechanism. Roll-up doors generally have one center-mounted torsion spring. The tension on torsion springs is great. Therefore, it is necessary to call a professional for any repairs to this type of spring mechanism to avoid serious injury. Because replacement of these springs or cables in a garage door can take at least two or three hours of labor, costs can average $300 or more.

Tom was right on time, moved efficiently and finished very quickly. Door has never sounded so quiet. Love the new rollers and the door is adjusted perfectly. Being a DYI and the guy who installed the opener I never could get the adjustments right for the range of door movement. He adjusted it perfectly. Also received (upon my request) a quote (word of mouth at this point, due to other projects on our list) for new door, installation, etc. I was VERY happy with the quote. It will speed up our ability to purchase a new door and will go with this company for it. Thanks again for a very pleasant experience.

Containment cables. When old extension springs break, the springs and cables become heavy whips that damage cars and even injure people. To solve the whipping problem, manufacturers now offer containment cables that run through the center of side-mounted extension springs. If you have extension springs and don’t plan to replace your door, make sure the springs have these containment cables, or have a professional install them.
